About Me

One of my fondest memories is of me and my little sister, Ashley, when we were 13 and 4 years old. My parents had recently bought a new camera, and it had a timer on it. One day when my parents were out, Ashley and I had a photo shoot of the two of us. It warms my heart that Ashley still displays this photo of us.

I’ve always been an archivist. I’m a genealogist, and the recorder of family events. If a get together happens and Kris didn’t take pictures, did it really happen? I’ve loved taking pictures since my 20’s, and even when pictures were still on film, I’d take a loads of them. Getting our first dog in early 2001 really brought out the artistic side of me, as our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Wheatley was a beautiful, blonde boy, and so very photogenic. The arrival of his Wheaten sister, Sunny, two years later only increased my output.

But, it was the advent of getting photos on a disk – seeing those images digitally – that gave me permission to fly. Once I moved over to a Canon DSLR with a memory card, I was free to experiment and there were no limits on the number of photos I could take and delete without cost. Quite a few of the images on this site came from that Canon EasyShare DSLR. It was a great camera! Later, I moved to a Canon DSLR and added a bunch of lenses. While the photos were beautiful, changing lenses all the time got tiresome (and heavy!). And, after a few years, I went to a straight digital Canon SX60 HS. A lot of people told me that the photos wouldn’t be as good; however, suddenly I could see the moon… and she was glorious.

Since then, I’ve taken a lot of moonrise and full moon photos. I love the moon. She brings out the deeply spiritual side of me. I love her details – the things we cannot see with the naked eye. What can I say, I’m a details person (archivist, genealogist, organizer of all the things!). Many of my photos are close-up shots of flowers, birds, and easily overlooked parts of nature. I love to photograph animals, and have done a few photo shoots with pets, both mine and others’, throughout the years.

One of the things I take the most pride in is that none of the photos that I’ve posted here have been digitally altered for color or clarity or design. No retouching has been done. One or two photos have been straightened, and many have been cropped, but all are products of catching a moment at the right time with the right light and the right camera settings.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you enjoy these photos, and that some of them may find their way into your home or office.

Warm regards,

Kris Jackson
